Title: | SD1-315 | |
Bibliographic Citation: | Johannes Wera, Sopune, Pitu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan, Erikson, Mboe; 2016-07-18; Genre: Custom/New boat. Johannis Wéra a grandfather from kampong Mata mere, tells a little about the new boat ceremony, Ceju pou. The gendang drum 'maba' plays a short rhyme five times, then a long one for the dancing, Cale coka. Then the boat is circled five times. Then chicken are thrown and hit on the front of the boat, this is to 'lali', cool down the new boat with the blood. To SD's knowledge, a large boat requires a lot of blood, pig blood, and the meat will be feasted on, a very expensive endeavour if one was to follow adat protocols. In another recording Wéra tells of the making of a small boat, including the similar, but lesser, ritual. Transcribed and translated by Mboe Erixon as an assignment of the FEL supported project to teach ELAN to Palu'e youth, practicing directly on yet unannotated recordings. Edited by SD. Ware and Lunda Pisane were recorded the same day, sitting together, by Pitu Sopune using the HN1 Zoom and the AT2020 mic. Transcribed and translated by Mboe Erixon as an assignment of the FEL supported project to teach ELAN to Palu'e youth, practicing directly on yet unannotated recordings. Edited by SD.; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/70015. | |
