Description:		In this recording, HJG1's daughter is trying to help her daughter digest food, and in order to make sure she's getting some movement, she leaves her with her grandfather HJG1 to play with her and sing with her. HJG1 plays kəlɨmtete (걸음데데) which is a song that one sings, and where one holds a toddler and lets it do little, wonky steps. This is supposed to help children learn walking. He calls the baby ət͡ɕini (어진이), which is a nickname that babies are given on Jeju Island alongside sʰunteki (순덱이) and kɛt͈oŋi (개똥이) for slightly bigger children. This recording is interesting, since HJG1 then begins invoking the main spirit goddess of the island whom he simply calls halmanim (할마님), 'dear grandmother'. It is probable that by this he means the sʰəlmuntɛ halmaŋ (설문대 할망), a goddess that is said to have created Jeju Island, and to reside on Hallak/Halla mountain, the main mountain of the island. This goddess is also the goddess of fertility and childbirth. He thanks the goddess and calls her granddaughter halmanim t͡ɕɒsʰon (할마님 ㅈ.손), meaning 'offspring of our dear grandmother'. He calls her with various other affectionate nicknames. From 05:59, HJG1 sings her grand-daughter a Jejuan lullaby, which is called wəŋit͡ɕalaŋ (웡이자랑), which is markedly different from most lullabies sung on the Korean mainland. The Jejuan lullaby may show how indigenous religious practices influenced the everyday life of islanders, as the song itself consists of recalling the auspicious nicknames for the child of the kind explained above, and praying to the goddess to protect the child and let it sleep well, and thanking her for bestowing the child upon the family. The lullaby also consists of ad-hoc improvisations of the lyrics, where HJG1 comments on the fact that the baby is rolling around from left to right like "a horse with an itchy back", for example. Note that this session has been classified as "not a natural format", because the way HJG1 sings the lullaby has some performative elements as part of the singing, for example the introduction to the song --- it is hypothesised that the more performative character was due to the fact that SUK1 was recording this event (which a announcement a couple of days before that he would like to record HJG1 sing the lullaby), and that SUK1 was dropping by occasionally to check the settings of the recording.
		This project aims at building an annotated audio-video corpus of spoken Jejuan with a focus on conversational genres, supplementing existing documentation of narratives and songs.
		Father of two, a daughter almost in her 40s, and a son. He and his relatives do different sorts of farming, which is beans, peppers and tangerines. He and his wife often help out at relative's farm, and he seems to be well-known in the village as a good talker, musician and good-hearted person. Can read and write Chinese characters, and is literate in Korean writing. Great knowledge and memory of words and expressions that he does not use anymore. Exceptional ability to create stories from stimuli, and expressing humour in language. He has great knowledge of Jejuan sayings, and knows folk songs as well.
		Daughter of HJG1. Compared to others she speaks Jejuan fairly well for her age, also because she is used to hearing it at home, and because she does not have particularly negative attitudes towards the language. In fact, she did her postgraduate research at Jeju National University on Jejuan children songs and nursery rhymes, which is why this constant exposure and contact with Jejuan speakers may have consolidated her language competence. She now lives in Gyeongsang province with her own family on the mainland. Musician and singer.
