Description: | A river swallowed a man's junior wife and he went to the river and sung songs of lamentation throughout the night. The river took pity of him and released the woman but gave her powers to understand communication. He warned her not to tell anyone. Unfortunately, one day the woman's rival who had only one eye was being mocked by some fowls who told each other to take advantage of her bad sight and eat the grains when she was pounding grains outside the compound. The woman laughed at this but her rival took offense and demanded to know why she laughed. The woman hesitated but finally told her what she heard from the speech of the fowls. Immediately she died. She could not keep the secret which explains why unusual deaths occur on earth. | |
