| Description: | On June 2, 2014 Peter W. Black filmed Robert Patris at his home on Malakal Island, Koror, Palau. Also present were Barbara W. Black, Stella Patris, and several others including a very vocal rooster. Robert is holding baby Benson during this session. Robert was asked to talk about his work and he reviewed his career as one of Palau’s senior electricians. This recording was made at Robert’s request. | Documenting Ramari Hatohobei (literally the Tobian language of Tobi), a severely endangered Micronesian language. Tobi is one of the Southwest Islands of the Republic of Palau, a Micronesian nation in the western Pacific. Severely endangered, Tobian is currently spoken by approximately 150 people. Tobian and the dialects of Sonsorol, Merir, and Pulo Anna, the other three Southwest Islands, are closely related to the languages spoken in the outer islands of Yap and Chuuk. | ||
